On November 17, 2022, the California Air Resources Board (CARB) approved amendments to the In-Use Off-Road Diesel-Fueled Fleets Regulation (Off-Road Regulation or Regulation). The 2022 amendments to the Off-Road Regulation are aimed at further reducing emissions from the off-road sector. The amendments require fleets to phase out the operation of their oldest and highest-emitting off-road diesel vehicles, prohibit the addition of high-emitting vehicles to a fleet, and require the use of R99 or R100 renewable diesel (RD99/100) in off-road diesel vehicle. The earliest requirements begin January 1, 2024.
CARB will host a series of four free public informational webinar sessions on the 2022 amendments to the Off-Road Regulation. CARB invites all interested representatives from public and private off-road fleets, including private businesses, local, state, and federal entities, universities, and school districts, as well as contracting entities that hire off-road fleets, to participate. These informational sessions are designed for CARB staff to present key information about the Regulation, as well as for attendees to ask CARB staff questions.
The first two sessions will be general overview sessions, with CARB staff providing an overview of the Off-Road Regulation and the 2022 amendments. The same information will be presented at both sessions. The third session will focus on the new renewable diesel requirements, and the fourth session will focus on new contracting requirements.
