Call for entries: Submit a Placer County photo for a chance to be featured in Locations California magazine

Stevens Trail Photography and camera on a tripodDo you ever take a photo and think, ‘“That should be in a movie!” The Placer County Film Office is asking photographers to submit their best photos of Placer County for a chance to be featured in an upcoming advertisement in Location California magazine. The top three selections earn a chance to be featured in an advertisement from the Placer County film Office showcasing local filming locations in this national publication.

Entries will be accepted now until midnight on Jan. 21.

Location California is the world's longest-established magazine focusing on location and studio production around the world. It promotes California's film, TV and commercial locations, production talent and facilities to producers, directors, filmmakers, videographers and film audiences.

Submission details

  • The top three photo entries will be selected by the county’s film office and each will earn the chance to be submitted to the 2024 edition of the Location California magazine.

  • Photos must be taken in Placer County within the last year (since Jan. 1, 2023).

  • Submissions must be film-friendly locations, including state or county parks. Find a list of all film-friendly locations by clicking here.

  • Entries can be made in the comments or replies section on any of the following social media platforms until midnight, Jan. 21: Facebook, X (formerly Twitter)Instagramand LinkedIn. Direct message entries can be made on Facebook, X and Instagram.

  • Submissions showcasing private property and properties without consent to film will not be selected.

  • The top three selections must sign a copyright release form prior to publication in the magazine. The film office will initiate this process following the selection process.

The Placer County Film Office is part of the county’s Economic Development Office under the County Executive Office. The film office serves as the liaison between film and related media production companies and local businesses, agencies, communities and residents.
