'Adoption changes a child's life forever:' See Placer County celebrate Adoption Day

Placer County finalized 32 adoptions in 2023, culminating with eight on National Adoption Day this past weekend. Families celebrated with face painting, games, music and a 4-H petting zoo. View a photo gallery from the event here. Hear from two participating families what adoption means to them:


There are still many children in foster care in Placer County in need of loving homes, including many teens. In the following video, District 2 Supervisor Shanti Landon, herself an adoptive mother, and Bill Richardson of Koinonia Family Services discuss the need for foster families and what the foster and adoptive processes look like.
