Sexual Assault Unit
The Sexual Assault team is part of the Family Protection Unit. This dedicated team of deputy district attorney’s work alongside sexual assault victims to find them justice in and out of the courtroom.
Placer County’s Sexual Assault Response Team provides immediate medical care, victim advocacy and criminal justice services for victims of sexual assault in Placer County. SART is made up of committed and dedicated medical, advocacy and law enforcement professionals. The unit also works closely with the District Attorney’s Office’s victim advocates to walk with victims every step of the way during the legal process.
Survivors are not alone
- 🔵1 in 5 women and 1 in 40 men in the United States are victims of rape or attempted rape during their lifetime
- 🔵Nearly 1 in 5 women and 1 in 12 men have experienced sexual violence by an intimate partner in their lifetime.
- 🔵1 in 3 female victims of completed or attempted rape experienced it for the first time between the ages of 11 and 17.
