In order to bring attention to the overcrowding problem for local animal shelters, the Placer County District Attorney’s Office is helping sponsor four adoptable shelter pets in search of a forever home.
For only $10, Mr. Jiggles, a male lab mix, Creampuff, a female maltese/lhasa mix, or Poppy and Finley, female tortie domestic shorthair cats can find their forever home on behalf of the Placer County District Attorney’s Office.
Sponsored by donations from office employees, the DA’s Office is hoping to help alleviate some of the adoption fees, while encouraging the community to learn more about the amazing animals that are at the Placer County Animal Shelter.
According to Placer County Animal Services, more than 90% of the dog kennels are full, with more dogs arriving each day. As a result, dogs are being doubled up in kennels or housed in overflow areas such as exercise yards to make space.
According to experts, animals are proven to help reduce anxiety, depression and overall mental health. The activity, responsibility and companionship from owning a pet has been proven to have mental, physical and emotional benefits.
To promote the sponsored pets, the DA’s Office invited the four sponsored pets to the office to highlight them and help bring further awareness to this county need.
The sponsored adoption will include deworming, microchipping, spaying and neutering, among other adoption needs. Interested households must fill out an adoption questionnaire and have the heart to love a shelter pet.
If you or someone you know is interested, they can call the Placer County Animal Shelter at (530)886-5541 or visit them at 11232 B Avenue Auburn, CA 95603 from Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
