Placer County unveils emergency preparedness dashboard heading into the storm weekend

Published Dec. 22, 2021

Heading into the stormy holiday weekend, Placer County has unveiled a new map dashboard to provide real-time information for residents and travelers.

The Office of Emergency Services Ready Placer dashboard provides road closure and traffic information , access to CALTRANS traffic cameras, power outage information, sandbag locations and more.

“This dashboard will provide residents and travelers a one-stop-shop for storm-related information,” said Dave Atkinson, assistant director of Emergency Services. “We encourage personal responsibility and preparedness year-round and this dashboard is a great tool to help support residents’ preparation efforts.”

Pulling real-time data from partners such as CALTRANS, PG&E and more, the dashboard is continuously updating to reflect current conditions. Further, county-related information, such as unincorporated road conditions, are directly updated from county crews in the field.

The Office of Emergency Services works to educate and empower residents to prepare year-round for any emergency through their Ready Placer outreach campaign. From preparedness tips, to promoting information sources, to grassroots organizing, OES remains at the forefront of county emergency preparedness messaging. This dashboard serves as an extension of those efforts.
