Placer Supervisors to consider redistricting options on Nov. 30

Community members are invited to provide input on proposed updates to Placer County’s five supervisorial district boundaries at the Board of Supervisors’ meeting Nov. 30.

During the meeting, supervisors will consider proposals for redrawing district boundaries, including a presentation on four draft maps recommended for further consideration by the Placer County Advisory Redistricting Commission. All maps submitted to date will be brought forward to the board.

On Nov. 10, the commission voted to recommend supervisorial map alternatives A, C2, and B.2-P1C Hybrid. View these proposed maps, here.

The commission also directed staff to further refine the B.2-P1C Hybrid to incorporate attributes from alternatives A, C2, and B.2-P1C Hybrid into Alternative E, which is available for public review here.

Residents are invited to comment on these maps, which can be viewed and submitted through our online form, here.

Redistricting takes place every 10 years after the federal census. District boundaries for federal, state, and local elected offices are redrawn to reflect new census data and shifting populations.

Census data allow county officials to realign supervisorial districts in their counties, accounting for shifts in population growth since the last Census and assuring equal representation for their constituents in compliance with the “one-person, one-vote” principle of the Voting Rights Act.
