‘Recovery Happens’ event goes virtual

No matter where you are, near or far – recovery happens.

That’s the message of this year’s “Recovery Happens” event celebrating substance use and mental health recovery, which this year has gone virtual due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Residents are invited to join in Saturday, Sept. 12 at 10:30 a.m. via Zoom (register in advance here).

This annual event highlights the success of local community members in recovery, and provides resources about treatment and recovery programs.

“We recognize that the pandemic has added stress for our residents and are here to support those experiencing challenges with mental health and substance use,” said Jeff Brown, director of Health and Human Services. “We hope that by coming together folks can realize that they’re not alone in this, and that there is help out there.”

The event is sponsored by Placer County Health and Human Services; Mental Health, Alcohol and Drug Advisory Board members; and numerous other community partners.

Although recovery from the impact of mental health and substance use on our lives is officially celebrated each September, Placer County offers a variety of resources and treatment programs year-round to support individuals in recovery. Connect with resources here.
