Saving tax dollars with solar energy

Short-term rental ordinance proposed
A new proposal for short-term rental rules in unincorporated Placer County will be the focus of two community workshops this month. Included in the proposal are county standards for noise, parking, waste collection and occupancy limits, enforcement protocols, and a requirement for residences to obtain a permit in order to operate as a short-term rental.

Placer agriculture value increases 25 percent in

Placer County budget
The Placer County Board of Supervisors today approved the county’s final 2019-20 budget of $1 billion, an increase of 3% from the previous year’s budget of $970.9 million.

Placer Election’s warehouse moving to Rocklin
The Placer County Elections Office’s warehouse is set to move to Rocklin from North Auburn. The Board of Supervisors today approved a $6.25 million acquisition agreement for a 54,503-square-foot office and warehouse building in Rocklin.

‘Safe Routes to School’ initiative
Oct. 2 is National Walk to School Day, and Placer County is again inviting community members to participate in its annual “Placer Walks” event by walking to school, work or around your neighborhood and sharing the benefits of being active. The county is also celebrating a new Safe Routes to School initiative for students walking to six local schools.

Nov. 5 special general election
In preparation for the Nov. 5 special general election, the Placer County Elections Office will distribute vote-by-mail guides to registered Placer County voters in California’s 1st Assembly District beginning Sept. 26.

Placer’s municipal advisory councils for Meadow Vista, Weimer-Applegate-Colfax, Donner Summit, North Tahoe and Squaw Valley each have an open seat to fill and interested citizens are encouraged to apply.

Placer County residents are invited to take part in Placer County’s next Charter Review Committee meeting Oct. 3 in Auburn. The Placer County Charter is a governing document that guides the organizational structure, duties and responsibilities of the county’s elected and appointed officials.
