Placer Supervisors Approve Whitehawk II Subdivision project in Granite Bay

The Placer County Board of Supervisors in a 4-0 vote approved the Whitehawk II subdivision project in Granite Bay.

The board tentatively approved the project at their meeting in Auburn on April 22 following a final public hearing.

New District 5 Supervisor Cindy Gustafson, sworn in yesterday, abstained from the vote citing unfamiliarity with the project.

Located on the south side of Douglas Boulevard at Seeno Avenue, the development by Meritage Homes will include 55 detached, single-family homes on 32.97 acres.

Approximately 47 percent of the site would remain as common area and open space, including the Strap Ravine corridor and a 300-foot scenic setback along Douglas Boulevard.

The subdivision will include residential home sites ranging in size from 9,007 to 14,501 square feet. All of the proposed residences will be single-story.

In accordance with Placer County General Plan Housing Element, the project has a 10 percent affordable housing requirement that the applicant is required to meet.

A 0.87-acre private park is also planned along with a quarter-mile-long, publicly-accessible trail.
