Planning Commission to consider proposed Placer County Government Center Master Plan Update and Whitehawk II subdivision projects

The Placer County Planning Commission will conduct a public hearing March 14 to consider the proposed Placer County Government Center Master Plan Update and Whitehawk II subdivision projects.

Final environmental impact reports for both are now available for public review:

Community members will have an opportunity to provide input on the projects at 10 a.m. on March 14 at the Community Development Resource Center’s Planning Commission Hearing Room, 3091 County Center Drive in North Auburn.

The Placer County Government Center Master Plan Update is an update of the 1993 Comprehensive Facilities Master Plan for the PCGC campus in North Auburn, envisioning potential county and non-government uses for the next 20 years. The plan identifies potential improvements to roadways, utility infrastructure and county buildings. It also envisions expanded open space, a potential community and event center and non-county development opportunities such as mixed-use, multifamily residential and commercial projects.

The proposed Whitehawk II subdivision is located in Granite Bay, on the south side of Douglas Boulevard at Seeno Avenue. The Whitehawk II project proposes 55 detached, single-family homes on 32.97 acres. Approximately 47 percent of the site would remain as common area and open space, including the Strap Ravine corridor and a 300-foot scenic setback along Douglas Boulevard. The project would include residential home sites ranging in size from 9,007 to 14,501 square feet. A 0.87-acre private park would also be built along with a quarter-mile-long, publicly-accessible trail. All of the proposed residences would be single story.

Following presentations on each project and input from the public at the March 14 public hearing, the Planning Commission will be making recommendations on whether to approve the projects to the county Board of Supervisors.
