Placer County is dedicated to the prevention of wildfires and encourages its residents to take advantage of the resources on this page to educate themselves on creating defensible space around their homes. All residents are also encouraged to sign up for Placer Alert, the county’s emergency notification system, and familiarize themselves with evacuation routes around their neighborhood. Ready, Set, Go!, a Cal Fire emergency preparedness plan is an effective education program that the county advocates all residents understand and share with their families. Additionally, Placer County is committed to working with its state and federal partners to reduce the region’s vulnerability to wildfires by removing dead trees and restoring forest health. Fire prevention is a community-wide effort and we thank you for helping us to Protect Placer.

The national recognition program’s annual criteria is designed to empower and engage residents living in wildfire prone areas with a plan and actions that can increase their home’s chances of surviving a wildfire; while also making it safer for firefighters.
