Murder Charges Filed Against Auburn Man

The Placer County District Attorney’s Office filed murder charges today against Daniel Espinoza, 34, of Auburn, in relation to the July 10th, 2016 shooting death of his wife. Espinoza was located and arrested in Newcastle by the Placer County Sheriff’s Department after exchanging gunfire with the deputies.

Mr. Espinoza was charged with one count of Murder, 187 of the Penal Code with a Firearm Enhancement, three counts of Attempted Murder on a Peace Officer with a Firearm Enhancement, and one count of Kidnapping, 207(a) of the Penal Code. Mr. Espinoza is facing life in prison.

Espinoza is in custody at the Placer County Jail with no bail. He will be arraigned on August 4th, 2016 at 8:30 a.m. in Department 31.
