Alpine-Squaw Gondola Project

Project Overview

The project proposes a new 8-person gondola (a design capacity of approximately 1,400 persons per hour in both directions) connecting the Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley Ski Resorts. Eight Gazex exploders are also proposed for avalanche control. The proposed Alpine gondola terminal is located between the Roundhouse Express and Hot Wheels Chairs, and the proposed Squaw Valley terminal is located between the KT-22 and Squaw One Express Chairs. The project area crosses private lands either owned or leased by Squaw Valley Ski Holding, and National Forest System Lands. The proposed project is adjacent to, but does not cross into, the Granite Chief Wilderness Area.

The project is currently under review by Placer County (EIR), and separately by the United States Forest Service (EIS).
