District 4 - Suzanne Jones
District 4 Supervisor Suzanne Jones brings a wealth of experience and dedication to her role on the Placer County Board of Supervisors. Elected in March 2020, Supervisor Jones has a remarkable history of service in her community. Before her current position, she served as a trustee on the Placer County Board of Education, where she was elected for three terms starting in November 2010. Her commitment was evident as she held key leadership roles, including County Board Vice-President in 2013 and 2020, as well as Board President in 2014. In recognition of her outstanding contributions, she received the prestigious Trustee of the Year award in 2019.
During her tenure on the County Board of Education, Supervisor Jones actively participated in various committees and organizations, such as the Policy Advisory Committee, the California School Boards Association (CSBA) Legislative Committee, and the California County Boards of Education (CCBE) Legislative Committee, where she even served as committee chair. Additionally, she was a valuable member of the CCBE Board of Directors. Supervisor Jones prioritized collaboration with the Placer County Office of Education, aiming to establish top-notch educational programs in early childhood education, special education, alternative education, community schools, and juvenile court schools throughout the county.
Supervisor Jones's commitment to community service extends beyond education. She was appointed by the Placer County Board of Supervisors to the Granite Bay Municipal Advisory Council from 2010 to 2016, serving as Chairperson for one and a half years.
In 2014, she also received an appointment as Commissioner for District 4 on the Placer County Older Adult Advisory Commission. With a focus on the Housing Committee Suzanne actively contributed to the commission until her term expired in May 2020. Furthermore, she served as a trained mediator in the Appellate Mediation Program, Court of Appeal, Third Appellate District, starting in 2012.
Supervisor Jones's educational background includes a bachelor's degree in Human Biology, with a minor in Chemistry, from California State University, Sacramento. She further pursued her academic journey and earned a Juris Doctor from Lincoln Law School of Sacramento, making her a current member of the California State Bar Association.
Before her involvement in local governance, Supervisor Jones gained valuable experience in various professional sectors. She worked for the Department of the Army in divisions such as Accounting, Transportation, and the Army Criminal Investigation Division, both in the United States and Europe. She also served in the Office of the Program Manager in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, while her husband held an Officer position in the United States Army. Additionally, she owned a small business in Placer County during the early 1990s and worked in the legal department of the Sacramento City Unified School District.
Supervisor Suzanne Jones' diverse background, dedication to education, and extensive public service experience makes her a valuable leader for District 4. Her passion for community and commitment to fostering positive change is evident in her remarkable journey of service.
